“Tell me about yourself.”

Why – How – What – Why me

I know the company just launched a great product. At this point, you want to promote the product to a brand new market. As such, you need more people with the ability to develop new client relationships.  (WHY)

My current company often assigned me to various countries to support sales activities. So I have strong adaptability. And I am good at opening a conversation with people I meet the first time. To develop new clients sometimes we need to approach huge amount of people multiple times. My compressive Excel skills allow me to set up a system recording/monitoring my approach and the status of follow-ups. (HOW)

Based on my understanding, I have the traits you are looking for. We can work together. (WHAT, WHY ME)

What’s your biggest weakness?

I used to like to work on one project to its completion before starting on another, but I’ve learned to work on many projects at the same time, and I think it allows me to be more creative and effective in each one.

Who was the worst boss you worked with?

The most challenging boss I worked with was a man who provided very little feedback about my performance. I was able to improve communication by providing unsolicited weekly status reports on my projects. Eventually, he furnished some feedback and constructive criticism to these reports and I knew better where I stood.

What are your salary expectations?

I am open to discussing what you believe to be a fair salary for this position. And, based on my research, my knowledge of the industry, and my understanding of this geographic area, I would expect a salary in the general range of $X to $Y. Again, I am very open to discussing these numbers with you.

Do you have any questions for me?

a.    Can you share more about the day-to-day responsibilities of this position? What’s a typical day like?

b.   If I were hired for this role, what would you want me to achieve in my first month in the position?
